The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley is accepting applications for the position of Utilities Superintendent.
Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, this full-time exempt management position will coordinate and optimize the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water distribution and waste water collection systems. The Utilities Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that the Department’s Water/Wastewater operators are adequately trained and supervised for regulatory compliance. The Utilities Superintendent will take on the role of Chief Operator for the Town’s water distribution and waste water collection systems and will lead the Utilities Department into the next phase of evolution.
The Town is looking for an EOCP Water Distribution Level II or III, Wastewater Collection Level II, Water Treatment Level II, and a Wastewater Treatment Level 1 operator but would consider an Under-graduate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or diploma in Civil or related Engineering Technology an asset. You will also have 5-10 years of related experience with the operation and maintenance of a water distribution and waste water collection system and 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory position related to water and wastewater. A sound knowledge of computer related systems such as GIS systems and SCADA software system would be beneficial. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and a clean driving record are also required.
The Utilities Superintendent is a new position for the Town of Osoyoos and would provide an excellent opportunity for encouraging growth, leadership and mentorship for the right candidate. With a small operator group to manage, the superintendent will need to balance budget, training, O&M requirements while still providing service levels to users.
